Taraji P. Henson was on Monday honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk-Of-Fame.
The 48-year-old Oscar nominee got tearful as she spoke at the ceremony before she dedicated the accolade to her grandmother, mother, and son.
She said she was emotional because her family was there as she explained: ‘Everything I do, I work so hard to make them proud.’
Taraji P. Henson also added that getting a star on the Walk of Fame “really confirms that in spite of the circumstances in your life whether you were born into them or they just happened along the way, it doesn’t matter because, with God, all things are possible.
“I want to say to all of the little brown babies all over the world, ‘Look at me and see you.’ I was a single mom, raised by a single mom and lived in the hood,” the 48-year-old actress said. “I never focused on my circumstances. I focused on my dream and looked at God. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a journey through history and today my legacy will be forever etched in the history of Hollywood. I’ve worked so hard for this. It’s surreal.”
At one point, the actress packed on the PDA with her former NFL player fiancee Kelvin Hayden as they pose over the star.
